Why make this pledge?

• Make a difference and enrich your life. These are extraordinary times: of violence, global warming, growing disparity between rich and poor. as well as a million opportunities at our fingertips for building a better world. Don't be a bystander to history. Dedicate yourself to an issue you care about deeply. As the video below demonstrates, generosity can be a powerful antidote to boredom, scarcity, and isolation.

• Enjoy our Giving Toolkit.  As a pledge-taker you have access to this online toolkit, with articles, worksheets, stories and videos from extraordinary givers, and links to giving-related websites.  You can share these tools with your friends. family, and advisors. 

Who can sign? 

People of all financial levels have taken this pledge.  Anyone can sign who commits to give 50% or more of their income or business profits (for at least the next three years), or commits to give 50% or more of their net worth (in their lifetime or estate plan), or has given at those levels in the past. 

What if I’m not ready to give 50%?

Of course, giving half is not for everyone!  If this pledge is not right for you, we still invite you to Explore Bold Giving. 

What happens once I sign?

We’ll arrange for you to have a brief conversation with one of us from Bolder Giving.  We’ll email you some questions, talk about whether you’re willing to share your giving story on the website or prefer to be anonymous, and discuss what would be helpful to you as you seek to reach your giving goals.  If you’d like we can help you connect to donor networks or other types of giving assistance.  We do not recommend specific causes for you to give to.
 
There are no fees and no participation obligations.  All information is kept strictly confidential. We will invite you to take part in Bolder Giving’s free programs because we believe these to be helpful, but you should feel free to decline. We will encourage you to fill out periodic surveys of all Pledge takers so we can document collective impact.
