Activist Philanthropy and Getting the Most Bang for the Buck: The Case of Donor Advised Funds

Could you please broach the subject of donor advised funds? Have you seen a trend among your clients to give more to donor advised funds than to foundations? Do younger donors shy away from donor advised funds if they want to be involved hands on in an NPO and not to just be a donor of assets? Can one have the tax and other advantages of giving through donor advised funds and still be an "activist" philanthropist?
